What’s New/Key Changes From Last Year
New for 2022, the Corolla Cross is the first-ever crossover variant of Toyota’s small-car car line, which slots into the fast-growing subcompact SUV category.
Available Trims
Toyota offers the Corolla Cross in L, LE, and XLE trim levels. A 2.0L four-cylinder engine with auto stop/start powers all of them through a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). AWD is optional in L and LE and standard in XLE.
Standard Features
Corolla Cross L comes with conventional keyless entry, heated front seats, six-speaker audio, a 7.0-inch touchscreen, Apple/Android phone integration, power windows, air conditioning, heated side mirrors, LED headlights/taillights, and 17-inch steel wheels.
L trim’s standard safety kit comprises lane departure alert with steering assist, radar cruise control, lane tracing assist, forward collision mitigation with pedestrian/cyclist detection, and automatic high beams.
LE adds blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, passive keyless entry, rear USB charge ports, an 8.0-inch touchscreen, automatic climate control, heated steering wheel, and alloy wheels.
XLE gains parking assist with automatic braking, wireless phone charging, nine-speaker audio, power-adjustable driver’s seat, dual-zone A/C, a 7.0-inch digital gauge display, auto-dimming rearview mirror, ambient lighting, sunroof, fog lights, and 18-inch alloys.
Key Options
The Corolla Cross’s sole option is an LE premium package that adds a sunroof, wireless phone charging, remote engine start, and roof rails.
Fuel Economy
Toyota’s fuel consumption estimates for the Corolla Cross are 7.6/7.0 L/100 km (city/highway) with FWD, and 8.1/7.4 L/100 km with AWD.
Competition
With the Corolla Cross, Toyota is the latest brand to join the compact crossover segment, where it competes with the Hyundai Kona, Chevrolet Trailblazer, Kia Seltos, Mazda CX-30, Honda HR-V, Buick Encore GX, Ford Ecosport, Fiat 500X, and Subaru Crosstrek.
